  • “Everyone’s is still in shock,” says Vee Somphanith, speaking of her bridesmaids Monday while standing in her old bedroom where her dresses were being kept before being destroyed by a fire Saturday. She said they are all calling her, asking what they can do to help. Somphanith’s traditional Laotian wedding dress and six bridesmaid dresses were destroyed by the fire.<br />
Vee had two ceremonies planned one with the Laotian dress and one with a traditional white dress for a wedding planned just 21 days away.

  • Karen Norris hugs Sadie, a 104-pound Rotweiler, after she was retrieved from her house at 2509 Marion Road that caught fire early Wednesday morning.  The Norris family was evacuated from the home by police, but the dog was stuck inside for about an hour while firefighters contained the fire.  The family is Mike and Karen Norris and son Josh.
