  • Karen Norris hugs Sadie, a 104-pound Rotweiler, after she was retrieved from her house at 2509 Marion Road that caught fire early Wednesday morning.  The Norris family was evacuated from the home by police, but the dog was stuck inside for about an hour while firefighters contained the fire.  The family is Mike and Karen Norris and son Josh.   • After the community heard about the dresses and food that was destroyed for her upcoming wedding, a local volunteer youth group sponsored a fundraising car wash to help Vee and her family with the wedding expenses.  Vee encourages a vehicle to stop for a wash.

  • Don Fiegel reaches out for Cecile Kautz’s hand after they were named king and queen of the Valentine Dinner and Dance at Fairview Care Center in Dodge Center Tuesday evening.   • It was by accident that Lorie Mueller,31, caught an interest into the world of boxing, having never played any sport before in her life.After a few amateur matches in the past two years, she began preparing for her professional boxing debut. She trains in the gym every day,works a fulltime job, and raises a family.

With winter nights beginning as early as 4:00 p.m. the home is lit with kerosene lamps and heated with a wood burning stove. <br />
Todd with his two sons Chester,4, and Stanley,2, stroll through the tomato plant patch in one of their vegetable gardens. They were harvesting produce for their community agriculture members.

  • Carlos and Debbie Allen with daughter Deidre celebrate their marriage of 37 years and their move to Eastgate 30 years ago. Carlos is retired due to a tragic car accident that left him disabled 19 years ago. A drunk driver struck Carlos on his way home from work, which resulted in 6 months of intense rehabilitation. “Though he currently still suffers from short-term memory loss, we are blessed with his presence,” says Debbie. He enjoys reading the Dispatch newspaper everyday including sports news.
